Hope Town on Elbow Cay Abaco, Bahamas is one of most quaint villages in The Bahamas, and an incredible location to photograph a wedding. It is also one of the oldest — founded by loyalists in 1785.
Hope Town Abaco was where the TV show Scrubs shot the two part Bahamas wedding episode “My Soul on Fire” – and this was one of reasons that Doug and Laura picked it for their Bahamas destination wedding.
As a Scrubs fan (especially its throwback to 80’s music) I was pretty excited to photograph their wedding in Hope Town.
Hope Town is home to The Abacos’ most famous landmark—a candy-striped Elbow Reef Lighthouse in Hope Town, built by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service in 1862. It is one of only a handful of manually operated lighthouses in the world.
Their wedding was at the Hope Town Harbour Lodge, a magnificent property, that stretches from Hope Town Harbour to the powdery pinkish white sand beach facing the Atlantic Ocean.
With stunning colonial loyalist style architecture painted with Bahamian pastels Hope Town provided a perfect backdrop for wedding pictures.
I’ll let the photographs say the rest…
Doug and Laura also decided to a “First Look” at the Dinghy Dock.
Time for a wedding…
